Hey guys and gals,
Just found this forum looking for a solution to a stubborn problem. Already used the search function for a solution, but came up empty.
I recently bought a beautiful black DeArmond Starfire Special with the white pickups. The pickup covers have a white inlay kind of thing that has become discolored. For the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to get them white again. What I have tried so far is acetone, abrasive hand cleaner, a light steal wool, polishing wheel on a dremel and rubbing compound. Nothing really budges the stain. The material seems to be a soft plastic, I know this because it melted when I used the dremel tool.
Any help is appreciated.

maybe they are made to age or tarnish. gives the guitar character. :x
you could try a whitening toothpaste maybe. personally, I would be careful about using anything. those pole pieces could be damaged. worse, some solution could seep to the inside of the humbucker. then there will be more worries than grime.
have you try contacting the pickup company?
Buy new ones don't think you'll be able to do much with that.
