I noticed when doing a restringing and cleaning of the fretboard on my Yamaha FG solid top acoustic that the frets have indentations in them running the same direction as the string where contact occurs. This is most concentrated under the thinnest three strings and on the second and third fret from the nut.
I have been playing about an hour a day for 15 months now. I string with D'Addario light gauge. I have not noticed an impact on the sound quality or any fretting difficulties
Should I worry? Do I ignore it until problems are encountered? Any other experiences re this?
Thanks.

Then there is no problem.
Eventually (could be a long time from now) the fret wear will start to cause buzzing and you will notice that you have started pressing a lot harder. When this occurs you will need a fret dressing.
Cheers,
Max
yeah, frets last a long time. i wouldnt even think about it until it starts buzzing and you cant get clean notes.
