So, I'm getting a new guitar soon, and I plan on having my old guitar tuned to Half Drop B (B,F#,B,G,B,E), so that I can get a more or less unique sound out of my guitar, however, I have no idea what string gauges I should use for the three low strings, whether I should change the gauge on the G,B and E strings, and how I should set it up. Anybody have any advice?

I would go with a thicker gauge string set for sure. Many of my clients who do drop tunings and have their guitars set up in the lower tuning go with thicker gauges so there is a little more tension and less "flappy" strings. Be sure to set the guitar up (neck, action, intonation) in the new tuning and you should have a good result. If you are in one of the areas where we hold of COMPLETE Guitar Repair & Set-Up Clinic, it's definitely worth checking out Good luck!
