Well, my brother lent me one of his guitars and it is a yamaha rgx, i've been learning to play and its all good, but im not sure what happened, but now the volume nob on it is very loose, i've gotta fix it... fast before he kills me. We may both be 6' 2 but he has some serious gunnage. Anyways its a twist knob and i will attach pictures below if thats any help. I tried searching, but as i don't really know any of the technical terms it wasn't very helpful. Thanks for all of yhour help

Three possibilities:

1) The knob has a set screw in the side and it is loose. FIX - Tighten set screw

2) The nut under the knob is loose and letting the pot turn. Not likely if it goes completely around since the wire would have broken already. FIX - Tighten nut

3) The stop inside the pot broke and now the post is free to spin. FIX - Replace pot. Maybe $20 or $25 to have fixed in a guitar shop.

Your brother won't kill you for any of these things. They happen all the time.

Let us know how you make out

Yes rush to the nearest guitar shop because first aid doesn't works in case of guitars
