Hi,

I love my J5 tele but it's a bit too bright for me. Thinking of adding a tone cap since it has none. Good or bad idea? Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
Dave

Why not adjust at the amp?

That's a good point, but with my other guitar's I like the presence pretty wide open, a bit more clarity without being too harsh. They all still retain a warm sound I love. Not the j5. Guess I'll try 0.33 first. Thanks for the reply.

The Squire J5 didn't have a tone control, just 2 volumes, 1 for each pickup. You have to either add another 250 ohm potentiometer if there is space (which I doubt) or combine the two volumes into one and use the second pot for tone. https://www.seymourduncan.com/wiring-diagrams?meta_params=guitar-options,2-pickups,neck-h,bridge-h,1-volume,1-tone,3-way-blade The cap would be .033uF.
