I have a tune-o-matic bridge for my Hagstrom. The grooves in the saddles where the strings rest, are not big enough. They are all the same size, and very small. How do I make them bigger, do I need a special tool, or will a really small file do?

Vacate is the word...Vengance has no place on me or her...Cannot find a comfort in this world.

You don't really need much in the way of notching on a bridge -- just enough to hold the strings in place under tension during whatever hard strumming and picking you will dish out. If you need to enlarge the grooves, I recommend a V profile, not a slot or groove such as that in a nut. Use a small triangle needle file for this.

Also after you file, for cleanup on the saddles take a string a gauge or 2 bigger and run it through the slot for a while to take burrs off or it that could cause premature string death. Just something to watch out for, goodluck regardless though.
