Need opinions on how to fix a neck!

itar is a Greg Bennet Avion its been messed up for awhile I'm just now getting around to it. Ok to business, I really don't know what I'm lookin at...... the holes don't seem to be stripped but when you put it together you have about a 1 inch gap from neck and the body. The body Picture with drawing is showing where a gash is cut in it I was thinking wood filler there. Also took it to a local shop couple years ago the guy put a pick between the neck and body to "close the Gap" well the next day I moved from the south to out west for a job well got there and it looked worse than before. Any help is appreciated im new to fixing necks and what not electronics is really my thing. Thanks in advance folks!!
