I have to comment on putting olive oil on your strings. It was suggested a couple of times by Ricochet and I finally gave it a try. Normally after about three weeks of play I find my strings sound dead and need to be changed.
The last time I restrung, I took Ricochet advice and dipped my fingertips in olive oil and drew each string through my fingers before I put them on. They have now been on 1 month and they are quite a way from dead. It added about 3 minutes to my restringing time and I am guessing I will be changing my strings about 1/2 as often.
If you are like me, and you change your strings as soon as they lose the brightness of new strings, you must give this a try.
Its easy, cheap and allows you to string less often.
Good Advice Ricochet - Thanks
Cheers,
Max
I concur whole heartedly, I also use olive oil on my fretboard.
