Hey,
I have a Peavey Preditor and I have fret buzz around the 2, 3, 4, and 5th fretbs on the G-B-E strings. I HATE IT!!!!!! It's odd though, cause there is NO fretbuzz when I first put new strings on it, but after about a week (after they wear in a little) the buzz is there...and oh..my..god...It's SO F@#$$%^ annoying....
Here's what MIGHT be the cause..
the action is reallllly low. the way I like it. but that might be the cause...
my guitar instructor says I should put 7mm lead on the nut to add elivation to the strings.
What do you guys think?

If it buzzes on open strings, the nut could be an issue, but the buzz on the higher frets (but less than 6 or 7th) sounds like a relief issue.
You could try loosening the truss rod justa tiny bit to add a slight bit more bend or just try going up 1 size in string. The larger string will have more tension which will bend the neck slightly more and sometimes this is enough to reduce buzz, if this is the cause. Tighter strings also flop around less, which can reduce the tendency to buzz.
