I have an older 1980 HSS. The two Single Coils are DiMarzio Hot Strat pickups and the Humbucker is a Seymour Duncan Full Shred. I am replacing the POTS. I understand the logic behind the industry standard for the use of 250K POTS with SCs and 500K POTS with HB.
My question is, why not use a bright 1M Tone POT and combine it with a Capacitor with a value like 0.047uF to roll off the highs you don't want?
I'm also thinking about using a 500K POT for the Volume and use a Treble Bleed Circuit, With .001uF Orange Drop capacitor.
I do not know electrical theory but it does seem reasonable to me allow as much high frequencies as possible and then have control over the amount allowed through using the Tone Pot.
I am asking to honestly know that answer, are there things that will happen that I am not aware of by doing that?
Thank you in advance for your help with this.
