I have an old acoustic guitar, and my mom got it used a long time ago from some garage sale. We think its some sort of Harmony Guitar, but we aren't sure. Anyway, this guitar has vintage Gibson Melody Makers for tuners. -----( http://www.rareguitarparts.com/store/mcart.php?ID=588 )<--- Link to picture/ info ------

A while back one of the pegs snapped of making one of the strings only tunable with a screwdriver, which gets very annoying after a while. I want to replace the tuners without making any new holes in the guitar and was wondering if similar sets of tuners would fit in the same holes. IE ones that look like this ---> ( http://www.rareguitarparts.com/store/mcart.php?ID=738 ) or this ---> ( http://www.rareguitarparts.com/store/mcart.php?ID=927 ).

Are all Gibson tuners of that style interchangeable? to me it looks like they could easily be the same, but i don't want to sink any money into this until i have some insight from someone who maybe knows firsthand.

Yes, they are the same size, and would meet your application/needs.

I don't think you are missing anything however - the older they are, the sooner the plastic knob material will crumble and snap off. Go with new/re-issue (reproductions), or metal knobs.

Here, for example is my 1962 which I sold recently before moving; it has 2 strips of 6-in-lines, still solid, but you can see how they age, dry up and shrink, which leads to problems eventually, if not given TLC, maintenance and humidified. :)

Like a bird on the wire,
like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.
