I inherited this 12 string guitar from my father in law, but am selling it since I do not play the guitar. It is a Guild F112 NT.
I posted it online and I got a comment back about this picture saying it looked like the tension rods were busting through the neck. I just assumed it was cracked or scratch from wear and tear, but it has not be used in 20 years.
Any ideas?
Looks like a scratch from here.

Wow -- that's crazy. I have that same guitar and have never seen this. I can see why you might think those two "scratches" are located about where the dual truss rods run, but I don't think they do. The truss rods converge more and should be closer together near the nut. I'm not at home to check mine (later this week), but could it be the finished has cracked right over the seams in the neck laminations? Is it a 3 piece neck? I don't recall.

It could be damage from a cheap or mis-aplied capo. I've seen damage like that before but never to that nice of a guitar.
I may be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride. (Jerry Garcea)
