Help. My B string on my Fender Strat sounds very off. Even when it's not plugged into an amp and I play an open B string it sounds terrible. It's still in tune but it buzzes horribly. Is this the string itself? Its a new strat and the strings came as it was now.

Thanks in advance.

String buzz can come from any of several sources, most of which aren't too easy to see, but can be spotted once you know what to look for. ("Some squinting required.") Since yours is new, some items on these checklists may not apply, but give it a systematical going-over and see if anything pops up. ("Things that make you go 'Ah ha!'" :o )
It might just benefit from a setup, or it could be from light strings, a badly-cut slot in the nut . . .
