It's called "My Sweet Love".

I think it could have been recorded a little more cleanly, but I'm happy with the parts and it still sounds fine through headphones so I'm not too unhappy.

(There are some other pretty archaic recordings on my Soundclick and not much else. Shows I should stick some of my latest stuff up to see how much I've improved!)

EDIT:

It would appear it's only available in a lo-fi version which is a little odd. But you'll still get the general gist of the song. Just means there are some odd jerks at the beginning and in the middle that sound a bit like sliding down the strings.

IT'S NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD

I can't seem to get the hi-fi to work, so I checked the lo-fi version. Anyway, it's wicked. :) Sound quality is pretty good on my monitors, no problems there either. Not sure if the hi-fi sounds radically different but I'm not botherred by the lo-fi one at all. If I had to categorize it I'd say a big chunk of Radiohead mixed with a few drops of (don't shoot the messenger!) Coldplay. Pretty nifty how you keep this harmonically fairly simple composition fresh throughout without losing the 'emptiness' of the sound. How did you create the 'fx'? It sounds kinda like my reversed delay unit but not quite. Made me thing of 'Spinning Plates' in a way and I never quite managed to get that sound either.

Anyway, well done. One of the 'freshest' originals I've heared on here. :) A shame there is no download option though...

the HI FI would not open. the Lo Fi had some strange bleed through sounds.
I could not tell if they were intentional or not.
it got so bothersome I clicked off.

Thanks Sleutelbos. First full song I'd recorded in a while. THe rhythm changes a tiny bit every "verse". Other than that I recorded every sound with the same guitar but did a lot of fiddling.

The bass was just a heavily EQed and modified bottom strings guitar part.

The solo was an echo delay on a tremolo part.

The strange backwards noises were the chords of the "verse" played backwards in a particularly uneven way and then reversed.

The heartbeat noise (which you may or may not be able to hear clearly on the lo-fi) was a steady percussive strum that I can't remember what I did to it. I think it was a bit of EQ, bass modding and reverb.

And finally the weird piano chord sounding noise towards the end is a few double stops and bends that I again played backwards then reversed, but added quite a bit of phaser/wah to.

And Smokindog, thanks for atleast listening a bit. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure those "bleed through sounds" you mentioned were actually intentional parts! :D

Something is seriously wrong though. I just downloaded it, which should be hi-fi, but it sounds considerably more lo-fi then the actual lo-fi one. As if something went really terribly wrong when soundclick converts the file. Really weird. :(

:( I only ever listen to it straight from the original file on this computer and whilst it isn't exactly crystal, it is clearer and easier to hear the parts than the lo-fi version on soundclick. If the downloadble version is worse, I dread to think... :?

I'll have to stick it in one big file once I;ve finished a few more recordings.

Can you mail the original to [email protected]? Maybe I can see what's up if you want.
