Nuno, I'm not quite sure what you mean with the round yond virgin mother bit :?
Ok, sorry...

That words are part of the lyrics, isn't? The melody in that part doesn't sound so well to me. But I don't know the arrangement that you are using and perhaps the author (David?) is simplifying it in order to do it easier to play.

It was recognisable - but don't forget there's an English to French and a French to Spanish translation in there. Even if there are no lyrics.

BTW, Isabelle, there's nothing remotely strange about Dylan getting excited about a) the new avatar or b) the fact that the link had the word "porn" in the string......that's just a natural human reaction. Very natural. Extremely natural. OK I'm off to have a shower - cold, I think. Damn you sexy French - the only language in the world that can make "Go Away!" sound like an invitation to an orgy....!

OK - back to what passes for normal. Isabelle, relax - don't play to the camera. You don't have to smile - you haven't been playing long enough to smile. You should still have your tongue hanging out of the corner of your mouth, sweat on your brow, and an embarrassed smile.

But - here's the pay-off. The guitar playing's coming along great - yep, couple of missed notes, but the general tune's all there. Keep enjoying what you do, and keep playing - it'll get better. The more you play, the more confident you'll get. Hey, I first picked up a guitar in the mid 70's - took me till the mid 80's to even think about fingerpicking, or playing a melody. So you're WAY ahead of the game.....

OK, I'm going to have another shower now - a little colder, I think. The last one didn't really work.....

:D :D :D

Don't forget to collect your copy rights!

Thanks Vic for the comments. So if I get this right... in 30 years, I'll be good, right?

I'm certainly enjoying learning that kind of thing. Though I'm at this embarassing stage where I can play something that vaguely sounds like the original, but still full of errors, muted strings etc. Practice, practice, practice

My amp (G Dec) has drum tracks (actually piano/drum).
I dialed one called 'Classic' and got this neat Rock track.
I set the key to G and used I, IV, V.

Those drum tracks make practicing fun.

That's rock'n'roll! Yeah! :D

Ken, I also watched one of your first videos and I noted a difference between them mainly in your strumming hand. The chord changes are also smoothers but your strumming is really good. Today I was playing my acoustic and it was one of those days in which all sounds very ugly and the fingers are very slow. So, congrats KR2!

On the other hand, I completely agree with your comment on the drum tracks. I was checking a drum machine this weekend, an Alesis SR-16. A friend lent me because I want to put one in my Christmas list. Those machines make practicing fun!

Congrats again! 8)

Hi all fellow beginners...

Just stopped by to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Musical New Year.... :D

I seem to feel I've been neglecting this thread for a while - no recent videos, no badly played Christmas tunes or floppy Santa hats.... aren't you all lucky...

Been crazy with me the last six weeks with work and just can't seem to get the time to make a vid, but I've been practicing. I've got a few songs to post, but need to clear a couple of projects first so I don't feel guilty about spending time playing guitar and recording my wailings...

Anyways, see you all in 2009 and ROCK ON!

Merry Christmas! :D

I wanted to contribute with my first video with a carol today... but I didn't get enough time to practice :(

My best wishes for all of you, your family and friends.

I found a button on my webcam software that can control several of my bodily functions.
As soon as I hit the record button, my palms start pouring forth sweat, concentration ceases and all thought processes are garbled. I get totally lost where I am in the song and I just sit back and let muscle memory muddle me through.

For obvious reasons I don't feel the least bit guilty for still posting on Beginner's Videos even after a year of playing.

As promised, Silent Night – as taught by David Hodge . . .
My apologies to David for associating this . . . video with his name.

Merry Christmas to each and everyone.

Ho ho ho ho

That was tops Ken - Watching you playing and also watchin Issy playing it also, I've noticed that I make life difficult for my self - urm - how can I explain - you guys use your second and third finger to play the G with your pinky on the high E and then can use your index finger on the B without too much trouble...

I dance around the fretboard like Rudolph (Nureyev not the Red Nosed Reindeer). I really have a problem getting my pinky down on the lower E so I really must practice using that format as I use that chord a lot in some of the songs I'm learning...

Anyways Ken - excellent attempt. About where I am also, so pretty much like 12 months ago....

Rock on to 2009!
