In an attempt to get my wife off the "guitar is a stupid hobby" bandwagon I recorded a song that she loves. Candle on the Water from Pete's Dragon.
It was supposed to be our wedding song, but I had no idea what the song was when she said it, so we went with something else.
The audio and video were recorded separately, and it looks like the you tube encoding shifted the audio....either that or since it's not completely done encoding there it's just temporary.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to that Joe. :)
Great tone you're getting there, and beautiful looking guitars too. :note1: :note2: :note1:
Cheers,
Chris
fluid playing, great melody - loved it.
you looked really comfortable and at home with that style of playing - it must have taken a long time to get that down - but it was well worth it.
great job!!!
"I like to play that guitar. I have to stare at it while I'm playing it because I'm not very good at playing it."
Noel Gallagher (who took the words right out of my mouth)
Thanks guys I appreciate the comments!
It's actually one of the easiest songs I've played, it's just a couple chords, G, C, F, D/F#, Am, in no particular order and then a tricky one for me was a Dm/F
I started playing it on Tuesday just messing around, and then when the weeks started turning bad, I amped my practice of it up, and played just this song for the week and got comfortable enough with it to try and record it today. Took about a half hour to get one that I was happy with, and not having my software crash on me after recording....I nailed it like the 2nd time, but after stopping the recording on the computer....DUMP...hate when that happens.
I can't sing worth a lick, so I figure I should just let the guitar do it for me :D Liking playing this style more and more each day.

nicely played Joe.
gee, what kind of hobbies does your wife have?
bet they aren't as cool as your guitar playing.

Thanks dog!
LOL, my wifes hobbies include....um.....erm....well...she doesn't have any despite me telling her she needs some to relieve stress at times.

That was great Joe. Very relaxing.......
Say, how did your first gig go? Don't think I read anything about it anywhere - any video evidence?
Rock on!
D 8)
I'm nowhere near Chicago. I've got six string, 8 fingers, two thumbs, it's dark 'cos I'm wearing sunglasses - Hit it!
Hey Dylan! Thanks for the comment on the video!
As for the Gig report, here is the link to the topic on here:

That has all three videos. Two songs for each video except for Wonderful Tonight, it's the only song there.

Great playing! I saw that you changed to a 'classical position' now, by holding the guitar on the left leg.
Thanks for sharing :D
I have looked around everywhere for sheet music or tabs for the guitar arrangement for this song. Did you figure it out by ear, or do you have the sheet/tabs?
If so, can you pass them along? You listed the chords below, perhaps you can tab out some of the fingerpicking patterns you used?
Thank you!

No I didn't figure this out on my own, I'm not that good.
It came from Disney's Fingerstyle arrangement book. I bought it because I wanted to learn "Under the Sea" It's got alot of other good arrangements in there from anything from the Jungle Book, to as current as Monsters Inc (I think that's as late as it goes, not sure though, it's got Toy Story, Tarzan, Brother Bear etc.)

Thanks for letting me know.
But... I can't find the book anywhere... my two libraries, Amazon, Indigo, (pirate sites)... nothing.
There are two books with Disney and Fingerstyle in the title, and both are out of print.
Any chance you can write out some of the fingerpicking patterns in tab? I know it is a lot of work... so I hate to ask.

Here's a link to the book that I've got. It doesn't look like it's out of print.

Pay no attention to the one star rating though, the tab is just fine for me. The songs in the review that say it sounds nothing like it are wrong, it sounds fine, just transcribed to work in the first position.
I'll tab it out though if you want. It'll take me about a week though.

I just put in a request for it with my library - they have an inter-library loan system that hasn't failed me yet - they can pretty much get anything.
Thanks!

It is available from The Book Depository. I always buy my books there (when I buy online). It is free delivery and the service is very good.
