pretty cool sounding stuff, I can't seem to hear the drummer though?

Nice guitar playing, great bass. The bass is a little loud in the mix though I think...Or maybe its just the tone is a little fuzzy?

Sunny was the best by the way, awesome improv :)

Thanks. :D There's no drummer actually. Just guitar and bass for most of the tracks. Is my tone ok or di i need to add more treble? im not comfortable picking at high speeds with too much treble though.

Yes, good stuff! :)
I like "Spain" :D

I agree with Taso, the bass is a little loud. I'd add more treble in general although I like your guitar tone!

Nice job 8) the guitar sound just a bit muddy, you could up the treble a bit . You might try an EQ pedal

Muddy but also distorted. The bass and guitar are just sharing too many of the same frequencies. There is nothing to define the bass. If it had just a tad more attack you could bring it back in the mix and have it still be audible. The problem I think lies in the recording hardware though I think.

Performance wise I thought Spain was alright. You're treading on tender ground there for me though. I'm a huge Chick Corea fan. Bass solo was nice but I think with both of the solos there was some sloppiness. I'm being up front because, I'm thinking that you can handle some constructive criticism.

Fretless Bass? I can hear some parts where your intonation is a tad out. No biggie but it is noticeable.

Love the tapping "Just the Way You Are". There is a part there that blows it for me though.

Whoever is singing "The Nearness of You" has a very nice voice but it sounded like she was singing in a tin can. The solo here was by far your best. No too flashy just melodic. Don't get me wrong, I'm a shred head. Too bad you're all the way back home. If you were in Vancouver, I'd love a shot at recording you.

Insensatez is nice. My only complaint and I think that over all, and I think this is where you could really bring it up a notch, is that when you play faster runs, it's sloppy. I think if you slowed down a bit and applied some more of your melodic sense(which is very good) it would come off sounding way more polished.

At any rate it is after all ONLY my opinion. So add salt to taste. Nice work. With a little more polish and a better recording it could go over really well. Saleable as is with only Bass and Guitar. Also, an upright Bass would bring the project to another level.

Had a quick listen. The recording is much better. There is some pitchiness with "The Nearness of You". The solo didn't really mesh with the rest of the song. Just wasn't as mellow and melodic. A simply chordal thing would have been perfect. I could nitpick forever but in truth, the songs sound better this time.

i agree. we havent been able to re-record "the nearness of you" so i decided to play the same exact solo over the old recording (notice the slight chorus effect). i myself do not like how i soloed there. it was my fault to not have practiced the improvising over the song before going to the studio.

btw, do you have any soundclips i can listen to?

Not much on my soundclick page right now. You can click on the www at the bottom of this post.(beside profile, search, pm, email, www). There are only two songs left really. Loves Mantra and Testing 123 Neither of which are really recent. Loves Mantra is a poor recording. If it matters at all, I'v done a bit of engineering in my time.

There are some old examples on this page:

The artist is James Rogers circa 1995

That's not me playing. It's James Rogers. The recording was done in a multimillion dollar studio with probably $20000.00 worth of microphones on a half million dollar console to 1" digital tape/Sony digital 24track. More than I could ever afford in several lifetimes.

The link to what little I have left is at the bottom of this post. (beside profile, search, pm, email, www) At the bottom of every post actually. For each forum member there are links at the bottom of each post.

i like the james rogers recordings more than the acoustic folk song and prog-rock/neoclassical intrumental in your soundclick page. the guitar playing the james rogers songs sound more mature.
