This message board I frequent is working on this project where we do a tribute to each White Stripes album. Basically, users submit their versions of songs from the album, and we choose which version of each song we like best. They then get put on a disc and people can buy them. It's all pretty much a fundraiser for the board. Right now, we're working on an album entitled 'De Stijl'. I recorded a couple songs to submit, and I'd like to share them. I really tried to do something different with each of these songs, trying to make them quite different from the originals.
First up is You're Pretty Good Looking. I turned this one into more of a relaxing fingerpicking song.

Next is A Boy's Best Friend. I turned this one into a Velvet Underground/Red House Painters kinda thing. It's real slow, and I have a lot of layers going on. I particularly like this one.

I agree with Nuno. the second is has more musical interest.
Jack White is kind of a minimalist. in many ways I like the music he produces.
his arrangements are most interesting. the second song shows that.
your voice is amazing. so high and clear. just the opposite of mine.
some songs seem to be made for you. some not. some need that raspy voice, which you don't have.

I dig any thing Jack White does 8) Both covers are great. I tend to like "A Boy's Best Friend" more. Really sweet lead guitar at 2:54 :twisted: Easy on the ears :note1: :note2:
Hmm just love the vocals and great to see someone put them upfront where they should be.
