I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I was looking for some feedback to some pieces I wrote...

http://www.abiscus.com/music/The%20Museum%20of%20Abiscus%20-%20A%20Whimsical%20Expression.mp3

It was influenced by Pink Floyd and Shpongle, and represents the collapse of knowledge and the fusion of past events as one travels backwards in time and through the insanity of their own mind (or something like that).

Thanks!

Welcome to Guitar Noise,
This probably should have been posted in "Here Hear"
I liked it, I was expecting vocals to kick in about 1/4 of the way into it.
Very Floydish. I could almost believe I was listening to some early Floyd, say something from "Atom Heart Mother" or "Vision Obscured by Clouds".
It would make a good fill in song on a CD.

^It'll probably be moved shortly...I bet.

Very nice though. I can hear the Floyd influence, but the song is not over taken by it. Very beautiful work, clean playing, nice lead lines. It sounds great, very well done. What are you playing in this? I feel like I hear a mandolin, but I don't think so? Is that just a guitar?

Thank you very much!

Taso, very perceptive, it does sound like mandolin, but is infact a nylon-string sped up to twice the speed. Its an easy way to play fast AND clean plus it gives an extra ambiguity.

There are some other interesting things I did with it:

-The mystical chimes at the beginning is a recording of me turning on a space heater through a 1/2 speed reverb

-The inaudible voices in the background are lines from Married with Children and a bra commercial

-Before the guitar kicks in, that crashing sound is a car crash from Law and Order

-The monks at the end are just me humming after slowing down the track

I am a new player and only qualified to critique it as an average listener. I liked it very much and would be interested in hearing more pieces. Thanks for sharing it.

I like the song! As well as Pick Floyd I also hear some U2 style in the guitar.

What did you use to record and edit the song?

Enjoyed it...well done.

I'm also curious as to what you used to record and edit.

I used...
Software: Sonic Foundry's Acid Pro 4.0, Adobe Audition 1.0, Image-line's FruityLoops 3
Equipment: Oktava MK-219 condenser microphone, Presonus TubePre preamp
Instruments: Martin D-15 steel-string guitar, Barclay classical guitar, household objects including space heaters, televisions and tin foil

So basically, a microphone and a laptop. I do a lot of post processing because I can't afford physical electronic effects and things like that.

Heres another piece I started but lost interest in...

and one with more double-speed guitar...
