I could only listen to two, the others wouldn't work.

December Tide - Thought it was very good, although it isn't my type of music. You have a great voice, and the guitar sounds great. Definitly cool how you keep adding different things to the verse (instrumentally I mean)

I Should've Seen it - Nice rhythm playing, sounds good. The vocals need to be a bit louder in places I think though.

Glad you posted!!

very nice stuff. good playing good voice. very professional and contemporary sounding.
I like the conformity talk in the one live piece.

you come across as comfortable with your playing, voice, and style. great.

Your older stuff sounded like you were trying to write a song, but now it just sounds like your making the music that you want to make. You keep your music interesting too which is a nice change for most singer/songwriters.

Do you use a lot of open tunings?

no sir everything you hear is in standard

but i think your refering to firefly part 1/2

for that particular song I used a full capo second fret and another full capo covering the E,A,D,G strings at the fourth fret

at that point i used an em chord shape and two other weirdly unique ones

interesting you noticed it was different though

good ear!

Ya open tunings just have that drone sound. They are cool though, I like this guy Erik Mongrain who uses a lot of open tunings.

Lately I like standard tuning on the mandolin though haha.

Hey Spencer,

nice to see you back. Checked out yourSpace, very nice. I like "I Should've Seen It.." to me this song demonstrates your essential style. I liked the others' too but "I Should've Seen It.." is my favorite.

cheers

Paul
