Buffalo Springfield hit the charts just when I was getting fairly good at playing guitar.
it was so cool doing that harmonic thing . not long after I started college the draft board gave me a number.
I don't know why this song popped up in my head. I have no problems with anything right now. :)
for what its worth is a fun song to play.
I hope the tax return this year comes from the good fairy and not the troll.
then I will be able to get an entry level mastering software. that way I can better shape my mixes.
I would be able to increase the volume. right now I mix to the maximum output on my recording software.
but what comes out is low volume. that is corrected by mastering.
normally a mix would go off to a professional mastering person. I am not near that level .
so I want to try my hand .
I appreciate your feedback on the mixes. it helps.
No wonder you're having fun . . .
Your voice! What an improvement.
I remember the first song I heard from you . . . Twelve Days of Christmas . . . yep, improvement . . .
really pleasing to listen to, Randy.
Yeh, and hippie music . . . I love it . . . summer of love . . . wear a flower in your hair . . .
Edit: I noticed you had the "ding" on what? the second beat? I think the original had it on the first beat.
Can't help you with the mixing . . . all that stuff is Greek to me.
I just know what sounds good to me.
And that sounds good. Low notes sound good . . . every thing sounds crisp.
I'm listening with earphones so I'm sure I'm not getting the best quality out of what you've done.
But it's good enough for me.

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
Nice! I actually didn't know that's what the title of this song was. I was surprised that I recognized it.
I think the first time I even heard this song was in Forrest Gump (I think anyway) LOL. But I think this song is about 10-15 years before I was born. Nice job, you have a great voice on this song.
In Space, no one can hear me sing!
thanks for the feedback.
kenrodgers...the ding is the harmonic. there are two. and I think it belongs on the second beat...but now you have me thinking. I did record it on the first beat, but it didn't feel right. on well. done is done.
Yep two harmonics . . . E and B (in the same key as Buffalo Springfield) . . .
Let's compromise . . . and call them ding harmonics . . . OK?
and the original has them on the first beat . . . I downloaded the song to check.
And your cover does it justice.
It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

Cool, db!
One of those songs...I can still remember exactly where I was the first time I heard it.
Nice version. 8)

The mix sounds very good to me. I'm not using good speakers but I perceive a lot of space between the instruments. They sound very clear and you can distinguish them clearly.
Ding harmonics are cool! 8)
Another very good recording - and this also seems to suit your voice very well!!!
im not sure how you make these recordings - but they are constantly superbly sounding.
I have to say this is not a song i know, but its definately catchy, thanks for putting me onto more new music.
I also like how you use the lead bits of the guitar behind the vocals in parts, very nicely done.
"I like to play that guitar. I have to stare at it while I'm playing it because I'm not very good at playing it."
Noel Gallagher (who took the words right out of my mouth)
allman. you might like Buffalo Springfield. one of my top fav groups in the sixties.
there are a couple of good vids on youtube.
Steve Stills was an excellent guitar player. Neil Young was there too. his early licks are great.
You've got it all going on. Wish I cold record any where near as well as you. Say hello to Minnesota for me. I was born in Fairibault. After living a life of frozen toes and frost bite at 16 I bought a 54 Chevy for $50.00 and took off for the sun belt. I still miss it sometimes though.
great song....and you do a nice arrangment of it....nice work......Dan

hey you two. thanks for listening. I appreciate the comments.
missing the north? we are having a Canadian summer this year. it hasn't reached 90 once.
no complaints.
I sure hope we don't have the Canadian winter.
That is so very weird.. I posted.. refreshed, saw the post, then came back to see if you responded and the whole post I wrote was missing?? Might be my imagination, but that has happened to me a few times before in here.. like the posting gods are screwing with me for kicks..
Anyways.. I had noted that if you tell me what DAW/Host you are using, I likely have in my archives some free very good, very free VST mastering suite type software I can shoot you to.. I jknow tax time has came and went, but in case you are still looking, let me know.. I have a wonderful collection of all freeware VST stuff just like that.. let me know if you are still wanting some.. or just about anything else you could imagine as well..
Gads, I hope this post has more staying power than just a few seconds..
missing posts have happened to me too. usually I forget to click Submit.
PM on the way
