Hello,

Here is more torture for the ears!!

Week 3 of How Not to Sing.

I looked at the article about finding your range here on this site, and tried to implement that in song choice and not singing outside that range and such. Also, in the next month or so, I'm going to try to get a metronome, or beat maker or something to help me with timing, I think that will help tremendously. I think that I'm singing this song a bit too fast and I had to kind of re-work the strumming so I didn't screw it up completely while playing. Playing is fine, but playing and singing went kind of astray until I reworked the strum pattern. Thanks again for everyones help!

Thank you! I worked pretty hard on trying to find a range that I was comfortable with.

I think more feeling will come with more confidence, or at least maybe I can try to fake it!

I think that I will try to use some sort of beat to help with time, but like I said in the video I don't think I'll have it for next week. I'm also looking at some articles on the web about how to breathe properly while singing and see if that helps me sustain notes.

The song I'm working on for next week is a new song from Darius Rucker (his country album is going to be great). I think that is within my voice range, but we'll see.

Thanks again!

I had found some nice 'how to sing' vids on youtube. I don't remember thre links. a simple search in how to sing should provide. one had a girl another had a guy. both talked about breathing, range, etc.

This was left on one of my videos that I posted before doing this series, the comment has been deleted but is still on my comments page on my youtube channel home page. I thought I'd post it here because this guy has an extremely valued thought process on how to do this:

That's the risk you take putting things up on youtube though!

Hey Joe

Just thought I'd see how things were going - thanks for showing us the YouTube comment above..... - You are right though, we do open ourselves up for these comments, but that one is pretty hilarious and made me laugh so it's not all that bad, I also find it funny that we normally get comments like this from people that can't spell...

Keep at it Joe - keep taking the advice....and the crack...shouldn't worry too much about the metronome because your timing sounds ok to me - hmmmmm, on second thoughts.... :?

Rock on!

D 8)

I'm nowhere near Chicago. I've got six string, 8 fingers, two thumbs, it's dark 'cos I'm wearing sunglasses - Hit it!
