Well, it's been a couple of months since we had a new Jam Incubator collaboration to post, so I'm pleased to present this offering.

This is a re-sort of Team 7 (anyone who was previously on Team 7 but is not represented here, never fear, you will be placed on another team when you submit a segment). Due to the nature of the Jam Incubator (involving many first-time jammers and first-time recorders) segments are coming in not necessarily in "team order," thus triggering the re-sort. In other words, I received some submissions, and rather than let them languish any longer waiting for other team members' segments to come in, I ignored their original team assignment and mixed them together.

The Team 7 jam is as follows:

:15 - :57 Gateway
:58 - 1:40 Slejhamer
1:41 - 2:23 Slejhamer again (thanks for filling the gap, Slej)
2:24 - 3:11 Vic Lewis

Congratulations on a great jam!

Enjoy!

I hope hearing the finished jams will get some more who signed up for the Jam Incubator to submit a segment. It's a low stress, no pressure way to get your feet wet, work out the bugs, and all that jazz--learn to record, learn to improvise, learn to collaborate. (See the original Jam Incubator thread at https://www.guitarnoise.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30248 for the full scoop.)

There are quite a few new GN members who've joined since the Jam Incubator invitation was first posted, and they (you) are welcome to join up now. The backing track is still posted at my Soundclick site, accessible via the link in the first post of this thread (called Rock Ballad - Backing Track).

I absolutely agree with Margaret - great way to get your feet wet. I'd only played on one jam before, and that was over two years ago - had a listen to it last night, and I can't believe how poor my playing was, although I was no great shakes on this one either.

What I learned from this jam - never be satisfied with your first effort. Keep trying, record yourself over and over again. Took me quite a few takes to get my part down...and I'd practised nothing else for a couple of days, solidly. And if you're playing along with the BT - ALWAYS record it! There must have been about 7-8 takes that were better than my final effort, but they were wasted because I didn't have the record button pressed.

OK, I'm off to record my bit for the Dog's new jam - and it's a slow blues, which suits my mood perfectly, seeing as how Liverpool just got beat in the Champions League Final (sob!).......

:D :D :D
