This is a 1 track recording of me on the mandolin playing my newest song. Its a little rough at a place or two but this is a very complicated song and it is about 99% right. My friend is going to write a counter melody on the saxaphone and Ill record a full version later

The mandolin sounds good mate, combined with the saxaphone I'm sure it's going to sound awsome, I could hear the sax in my head as it was playing :D

Hmmm I'm a dork. I couldn't get anything to play. Said connecting but never got any further.

Thanks for the comments, im more excited about what this song will be then what the recording is now. Im thinkin maybe 4 pieces for the final version. Mandolin, Sax, guitar, and drums. And have us constantly switch roles between the melody (mandolin part recorded here), the countermelody (happens when the mandolin backs off for a few moments), and texture work. If the drummer was carrying the groove it could be pretty awsome.

Myspace just does that connecting thing sometimes, if you try again after a few minutes it should work.

Hey cool, the dorkness lifted and I was able to catch the song.

Do you have drums for it?

If you record it with a metronome and assist me in downloading it, I might be able to put some Drums behind it for you.

Sounds pretty good, I think a good bass line would sound good with that also. The only time I play my mando is when I plan to record with it and I will spend half a day practicing so it wont totally suck

man I dig my mandolin so much, being in 5ths you can just stack tetrachords to make scales and play all 4 notes with your 4 fingers on one string its so easy to make music with.

whoa sorry about that folks haha

I play mandolin a bit (well, better than I play guitar  ) though it has been sorely neglected lately. I really like this. I've only heard mandolin and sax together once, and it was an unusual but very nice combination. I'm looking forward to hearing all the parts put together.

I agree with everyone else. Great start on a song. Maybe you can put something together for the Jams & Collaborations forum?

Sounds great. I've always had major problems making mandolin sound good. You did a nice job.
