Nice job everyone, I had to cast my vote for the Dog as I've been in the dog pound before so it was a sentimental fav.

Cosmo - Close second on this one. I'm feeling that hipster dufus vibe you had goin on

Celt - Nice job, really liked the extra production work you put into this, a heard a few glitches wasn't sure if that was the recording or my computer

OWA-Liked the heavy vibe you gave to this just need to expand the idea a bit

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll!

I'm going to withhold my vote. I couldn't decide and I couldn't put one person against another here as we're all at differing abilities. I will comment though that everyone has grown in ability immensely since I first visited this site. Taso is developing his style nicely and Dog, you're borderline shredding! Do we get to dock points for that? :P Kidding of course. You gotta know I love my shreddies.

Cosmo, it was nice to hear someone do a clean take on this.

OWA, you're coming along. Just practice your blues scales and this will eventually all become elementary to you as for anyone who likes rudiments. Ah rudiments! You either hate em or you hate em but do them anyway. I've a stack of powertab files that are just excercises scales and the like. PM me if you want and I'll pm you with a link. Just remember that I am also a hack. So, take it for what it's worth. Great job everybody. 8)

:D thanks fellas! Everyone DID do a great job. They're all very unique, and each one utilized an important aspect of music, I thought.

A few examples of what I'm saying:

Most impressive I felt was Art & Lutherie. I felt like there was a lot of dialogue between you and the bass backing, maybe I'm crazy but I really heard it. You may not have known you were doing it (i think you did) and it sounds great - my vote went to you.

The Doggg with that SCORCHING tone and playing, great stuff as always

Dan - Again, more dialogue. With you it was between all the different guitars you recorded, very cool.

Celt - Is that all guitar, or are you playing a keyboard as well? Either way, love the synth sounds, very cool.

Timezone - great phrasing I thought, you centered what you were doing around a main 'riff' and it held together quite nicely

Chuckster - you used the backing track really well, you didn't overplay, and allowed silence. It adds a lot of...drama, to the music. Plus, I liked how you didn't play at the end when the heavy chords kicked in, made me regret not doing the same.

OWA - very original sounding with that (what I assume is a) phaser-ish pedal? Very cool, totally different feel to yours than the rest of ours I felt. Same goes for your original, which I liked more than the 2nd.

Kalle - Love the slow melodic playing that you do, can just feel the music coming out of you! Very solid with the notes you are playing - clean and tone rich

Me - I thought I used dynamics pretty well - slowing down/speeding up/getting quieter/louder.

Anyways, loved that while listening, when I realized that each piece was emphasizing a different key to mastering guitar :D

Edit: Cnev, what have you done. Now even Hue is calling me Cosmo  Err, what's a clean take?

My vote is for Taso, hi is doing the things I want to do but not managed to do.
And Owa , your versions went far beyond us other.

Just a question, is it a good programming that blocks me out of voting for myself, or am I not voteable, can´t see myself in the score table ?

Hi fellow competitors
This was different kind of song compared to most jams we have done and the first times I listened, I didnt had a clue how to jam on it. It was sooo.. slow.
Then I decided to build something on the chord changes and ended up using notes from the Eminor pent scale....(why am I always coming back to the minor pent scale..)
and the guitar sound should be something "crying" with long sustain.

What where your strategies for "attacking" this backing track ?

I'm not sure I go into a recording with any strategy. When I do my best, its usually when I close my eyes and really feel the music, and its sort of an intuitive playing - like those..what are they, trills? I do in my recording in the beginingish, they aren't planned out, just when I really start to feel it, I can play at my best.

I just start recording what ever I feel like playing and cut out the parts I don't like and edit together the parts that don't totally suck  I like to approach a BT like I was recording a album track so I like to put in 2 or 3 parts to make it sound fuller. Other than that I just try to feel the music and become one with my guitar

BTW Hue, I think its more like "shedding" than shredding  Although I did do a lot of Woodshedding on this one :D

Great Job Everybody,

Kalle- Nice Tone I like your interaction with the Backing Track Bass

OWA- Very creative on both tracks. #1 sounds almost like
Pink Floyd at times. #2 is somewhat more melodic than 1
but for some reason I like 1 better

Dog - Two words Carlos Santana!

Taso - There's this part at about 0:33 that blows me away.

Chuckster - I would have to say that you are the Most Neil Like.

TimeZone - And the Silver Medal for Most Neil Like goes to.........

Art & Lutherie - You took a more subtle jazzy route on this. I really
enjoyed the different approach. You get my vote.

Dan - I always enjoy listening to you but A&L already got my vote.
Very nice Job on the overdubbing.

Me- Thanks everyone for the comments. The track is all guitar (4 tracks)
and my approach is similar to Dog's. I'll play along with the track a few
times and once I find my direction I'll start recording. Mostly I record
clean and then and effects with Audacity. I try to build layers usually
with a simple chordal track as an anchor

Happy Jammin

I think it's great to hear everyone's unique approch to the same BT. 8) I think everyone should take a bow, as you can tell everyone put in alot of effort to do a good part. :D

My comments:

Kalle - I love the tone you got! 8) Played with alot of feeling. :D

OWA - I really like both submissions. Love the big bends & cools mood you set in #1. #2 is very spacey, (like Star Wars!), and cool! 8)

Dog - Very cool licks! 8)

Taso - Killer tone, awesome licks, & great feeling! 8)

Chuckster - Alot of feeling comes out in your playing. I agree with John - you sound the most "Neil like". 8)

TZ - Very bluesy vibe going on. I like it! 8)

A&L - Very good editting. :D I really like the "less is more" approach you took. 8)

Me - Thanks for the nice comments! My 1st time trying to multi-track.

Celt - Sounds like you've got a guitar army with you! Great job multi-tracking! 8)

It's hard for me to pick one over the other, as I like what everyone has done, but if I have to pick one, I'll cast my vote for Taso.
