Okay.... I finally did it... I can't believe I am posting this... but... here it is.

This is my first ever time recording a video of myself playing let alone uploading it for the world to hear!

There are a lot of missed notes and muted strings... but I got through it. I just played it once through with none of the repeated sections. I used my Ovation since my classical (which I usually play these days) doesn't have a pickup and I don't have a good microphone.

After tonight, I now truly understand what people are saying when they tell you to record yourself playing. It is very hard and forces you to learn the song really well and play very carefully. I can easily see this helping reach the next level of playing.

Hopefully my next videos will be a lot better. And I hope to figure out better video and audio settings too.

Be nice :)

Hmm....I don't know, maybe a youtube hiccup or something...I can view it with the same link.

Good job man! It's got to be nerve wracking recording your self. I know it drives me crazy LOL.

But keep it up! You'll be hitting those notes in no time at all!

The silly thing is that I can normally play that song pretty well... i think a lot of it is stage fright.

I will keep at it... maybe post some other simple songs that I know pretty well to get over the jitters and then take on a few more hard ones.

Thanks for the comment

Great! The camera still gives me stage fright, or "red light syndrome" LOL.

I've been trying to get a good recording of True, by Spandeau Ballet for about a week now LOL.

Thanks... I hope to get another one up soon... maybe just a re-do of Yesterday.

I have been trying to get my camera working better... but even with a lot of light and playing around with the settings I just can't make it work right. I have used two good guides for recording and it is just not working. I think my webcam is just too old. So until I get a new camera, I am going to stick with audio for now. Also, it is a hassle to set up for video all the time. I created a Soundclick page and am ready to go!

When you are lighting yourself make sure the lighting is behind you slightly. On my videos I have two lamps, both are a little behind me.

The way the camera works is if the light is in front it's going to catch that first and auto adjust, especially the web cams, web cams aren't that great for video, but it does get the job done.

Dogbite: Man you're rough! LOL. It keeps us all trying to get better though.
