I'll assume you're talking about Audacity... shout if that's wrong!

1) Download to a place that you choose, you'll need to know where it is in the step 7. (This is where most people go wrong - to save it to a specific place, right click on the link and choose 'Save File As'. You then get to specify where it goes. I put mine in 'C:Program FilesAudacity' just to keep it all together.)

2) Fire up Audacity

3) Choose 'Edit', then 'Preferences' from the menu

4) Choose the 'File Formats' tab

5) Near the bottom of that panel on the right is a button that says 'Find Library' - click it

6) Awarning pops up - ignore it, just click 'Yes'

7) A standard file location window pops up, use it to find the lame_enc.dll file that you downloaded (remembered from step 1)

8) When you find it, click it once

9) Click the 'Open' button

10) You'll now be back at the 'File Formats' tab

11) Click 'OK'

12) Done! (...and you only have to do this once)
