I have a M Audio Oxygen8 V2 MIDI( controller. simple device. 25 keys, small. just what I need for recording.
I can't tune the darn thing to the pitch of my tuner..which is used for all my guitars. I have read and reread the manual and fail to understand how to change the pitch so it matches my guitar.
let's say I have a bass VST selected. it reads south of E by a few cents.
the Pitch Blend wheel corrects it when I move it, but it does not stay that way.
it is driving me crazy. the recordings are sour.
can anyone help me.?

Can't help you but you could always tune the guitars to be "off" a few cents too, no?

a not-totally-uneducated guess:

the O8 is just a controller. while it sends offset (from nominal) pitch info, I doubt it is actually determining the nominal (e.g., A440) pitch -- that is in your midi synthesizer or software app. I would look there, not on the controller.

yeah, gnease. it is only a controller. it does not generate a sound, but triggers the sound I select.
I thought there was an adjustment that could be made in the controller.
the bass VST, which is giving the out of tune sound, is inside the Halion One VST instrument library in Cubase.
I could not find in any drop down menu how to adjust pitch.
I will have to look further.
thanks for the reply.

I actually own a an O2 v1 -- so kinda knew it wouldn't help. so I just checked Logic Pro -- my recording SW (Mac): pitch correction is a plug-in I can apply to any instrument or track.

I just finished some detective work. I'll just state the facts.
vst instruments are most likely tuned to A 440HZ. product manufacturers use a standard to sell products and product compatibility.
on line tuners are correct. well, I am not sure. I tested my tuner against three different sites.
one site my tuner read 20 cents flat (which, matches my result with my vst instrument test).
another site my tuner was 8 cents flat. the last site had a 10 cent showing.
there is nothing wrong with the midi controller.perhaps some midis have a micro tune adjust knob like my old Casio piano did.

my solution is to get a few new tuners. tune to the vst instrument so my guitar matches the recording (where it matters).
where's my pipe Watson.

There's also a free VST tuner plugin if you want:
