dang. one channel went out. here is my deal:
I record using a Lexicon Lambda digital interface. it is hooked up to a power amp which runs a pair of passive monitors.
for a year and a hlf everything has been cool. then this week I don'thave one monitor working. I turn the Output knob on the interface and get a pop at a point on the dial. sometimes the channel comes back on. if I crank the volume the monitor works. dialuing the Output knob on the interface back to reasonable volumes the monitor or channel cuts out again.
I believe my connections are good. I suspect the interface has problem.
but I am not sure.
how can I trace the problem?
everything okay in the headphones? that would be a big clue.

yeah. I was just checking. fine and dandy.
so then followed the monitor 's speaker wire. then to look behind the amp I remembered I had to move it forward in the rack. just when I did that I saw the amp's sharp edge sitting right on the cable that connects the interface to the amp. it was dented.
I replaced the cable. and I have both channels.
that's what I get for housecleaning my studio over the weekend.
okay ... that's sort of where I was going. cabling and connectors are the first to be checked. was narrowing it monitor circuit.
-=tension & release=-
well, the problem persists. there is a short in the interface itself.
the headphones began cutting out. double checked with the monitor, reversing cables etc.
no longer under warranty, but I can have it repaired for a flat 45$.
giving that a try because it is less expensive than buying another one.
darn.
now it is on to fix the truck. dashboard light went out.gotta find the fuse box.
grrrr.
stop reading this. everything is fine now.
