I have FINALLY convinced my band mates to write and perform a pure 12 bar blues song, and I am very excited. Of course, it will be fairly electric...probably a mix of acoustic rhythm and electric lead, but before we start in on the 12 bar, I would really like to do a Robert Johnson style slide intro, and I want it to sound like the recordings did back in Robert's day. Very tinny and everything. Does anyone know of any effects or modeling software that can help mimic that sort of sound? It can either be a recorded acoustic, electric acoustic plugged straight into the computer, or just a modeled electric. Any ideas?

pick up an old and small amp. then over power it. it will sound dry and dirty just like the old records.

next best is a tubescreamer overdrive. low distortion just enough to dry out the clean sound.

and then it is all feel and attitude to make it convincing.
for that matter, any tone you have will work if you have the right feel.

Is this for live or for recording? Either way, if you have some sort of amp emulator like a POD or something to that effect or anything that will allow you to make your own presets, get out the eq and drop out everything below 600Hz. If you have a laptop on hand or an mp3 player that you can plug into your (live) console you can add some a loop of some crackle and snap. If you are doing this for recording there's a free plugin from Izotope called vinyl.
