Ok so i've got a mix I like added verbs and everything, but it still sounds like someone signing over a kareoke track. what can i do to improve this? Also that "spacious sound" where the drums seem distant and the vocal sits perfect and has that tad bit of verb to make it stand out.

panning the instruments, voice, etc helps. I found that when I add reverb my vocals soften. I have to readjust to compensate or enhance. I am new to this. there are a few on this site that make really luscious and spacial sounding posts. as I go along I make some discoveries. having a good recording program seemed to have given my recordings less of that boxy sound.
my volume levels and pans on my mixing board are not in an even line at all.
