This a video I did of me playing a Hendrix style chord riff that I made up and then teaching it. Let me know what you think of the riff and more importantly the lesson, as I teach guitar.

I know the lesson is not perfect but the stuff I do just with a webcam never is, I have a friend who has a professional camera and mic and I spend more time on those videos.

Things I liked:

- you played the exercise through first of all

- you showed the chords you were using, including the C-shape barre chord and explained how they were put together

- you told the student what scales you were going to use

- the instructions on the barre at whatever fret you were at were nice and clear

Obviously, the detailed how-to can always be difficult to get across but I thought your repeated playing of some of the difficult bits worked well. The bit where you said "This is pentatonic patterns, nothing more" is very useful for anyone trying to follow it online.

The musical content was fine, and I think it fits the lesson well.

I have been working a lot on that stuff myself lately - i think your video is a good introduction. Will you follow it up with a video on using other chord shapes?

btw - i like your video, but i also have found this video helpful on the same topic

im sure you probably know what the guy is saying already, but it might help others interested in the topic of your thread.

Anyway, like i said - good video on a good topic :-)

Amazing thing about these Hendrix riffs is.... he probably did not know the theory behind what he was doing, he was just doing it! Brilliant!
