i can't tell you exactly, but i'm also more of a "feel" player. i would say you just have to adjust through your ear when you get to the place. just play with your EQ until you find the sound you want.

I think JTB was right, there are so many variables going on there's no way someone is going to be able to tell you accurately how to set the amp, it's all about trial and error and what sounds good to you.

But once you do that you need to write them down so you can dial them in quickly the next time.

but sometimes it sounds good
and doesnt cut through
or all the bass gets sucked out of it
or all the treble

It's a bit technical, but it can give you an idea of where to start looking

hark,

A little more info, are you saying that in the same room with everything the same in terms of room configuration and amp settings things change? Or are you saying when you saying that you dial in a sound for a tin room and then in a hall it's different? If you are talking about the later, then that's what I'm talking about, every room, every space is going to have different acoustic dynamics, which includes how/where you position your amps etc.

If you use the same room all the time you need to just work out what positions and settings work well. Now the room my have horrible acoustics to begin with and no matter what you do in terms amp positoning/guitar settings it may never sound right. in those cases you may need to do somethink about the room acoustics themselves, like sound deading the walls/ceiling etc.

I jam with a bunch of guys in a basemant and we even go through the same thing there, depending on how we position the PA and where the drummer and amps and everything is set up the acoustics change.

For a hall you need an amp that goes to eleven. Your at ten, ten, ten, ten all across the board. Where you gonna go for that extra push over the cliff? Exactly! Eleven.

If you haven't seen "This is Spinal Tap" ....... I appoligise for being stupid. If you have, I hope I made you smile.

haha
eh 10 is fine
it gets 350 watts
not at the moment
it pushes 0 watts coz its dead haha
being repaired

no what i meant was like
lounges suck the bass out of a treble out of a bass amp
and a tin shed sucks the bass out
and concrete
well i duno what it does i just mean certain triggers like that
i know a wood floor generally keeps the sound the same

hart,

Your right all of those types of objects will effect the sound but if you go into two different rooms that were concrete that doesn't necessarily mean the settings will be the same, every room is going to have differnet acoustic dynamics.

It seems like your looking for someone to tell you for a hall set the bass to x, treble to X and mids to X and for a lounge set the bass to y, you get my drift.

I don't think anyone can do that other than in very general terms.

I am not sure if I am completely off here, but maybe there is a possibility you can get more consistency if you get your amp off the floor. I think lower frequencies may have more of a tendency to propagate through the floor, and since the floor surfaces are different, you get very different characteristics. If you isolate it from the floor a little, you may have to play the amp louder, but you may be more consistent.
