I just have a pretty simple-stupid amp question.
Are watts a measure of noise? If they are then I don't understand why the head would be measured in watts and not the cabs?
answer?

A Watt is a measure of electrical power "equal to the power developed in a circuit by a current of one ampere flowing through a potential difference of one volt."

Sound is measured in decibels.

Cabs must also be rated in Watts, otherwise you can't match the head to the amp. If an amp has an output, rated at 100Watts, you need a speaker system capable of handling that output. Conventional wisdom is to use a cab rated at twice the power of the amp, because the amp rating is continuous, not peak.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?
