some mixed reviews, does anyone have one of these?
i'd be interested in putting it in front of my Crate 30, but i doubt it's meant to be used with overdrive.

I read on another forum that when some one mentions these they are laughed off the page.
apparently, they are not very good pre amps. I am shopping right now and saw them. I think I would spend a few more dollars for something better.

another thing I read: cheap in cheap out.

I have one and it is okay. You can warm things up on a solid state amp and add some gain (can be a little noisy). Mind, I have never used a really expensive tube pre-amp. I don't use mine for vocals, though, just guitar. one positive, you can use this as a line splitter to run your guitar to two amps. Of course they would both always be on, no choosing between. Also negative, there is no on/off switch. For $30 I think it is worth it for helping out solid state amps, but if you have tube amps, there is no need. If you are going to use it for vocals, you'd probably be better off getting a more expensive and better quality pre-amp.

It is a small world for metal fanatics. I welcome you fellow musicians, especially the metalheads!
