Can unpowered and powered stage monitors be daisy chained together?
Here's the scenario: Our band has a small Carvin powered mixer that has normally been running 2 unpowered mains from the main outs and 3 unpowered 8 ohm stage monitors daisy chained. We have added some band members and would like to add 3 additional monitors for them. Would powered monitors help and could they take the signal from the unpowered monitors in a daisy chain, assuming they are 8 ohm as well?
Thanks for any replies.

No. The powered monitors will be expecting a line level signal. Feeding them from the power amp outs will blow them. Some of the Carvin mixers have line level outs that you can use for powered speakers in addition to the power amp outs. What model Carvin do you have?

Playing guitar and never playing for others is like studying medicine and never working in a clinic.

if you "daisy chain" 3 - 8 ohm boxes your amp is seeing 2 ohms. Not good if its not rated for 2 ohms and if its a cheapo Carvin powered mixer---i bet its not up to that task.
