So I joined the tube amp crowd today, too. :o
Found a decent deal on an old Peavey Classic 20. I was thinking I'd get the EVJr head + cab, but couldn't pass this one up. Nice features: 15 watts, master and pre-amp volume controls, 3-band EQ stack, boost switch for leads, headphone jack, and extension speaker jack. Only thing missing is reverb, but I can live without.
Also discovered that Weber makes a wiring harness for Peavey amps which makes it easy to attach an attenuator, so I'll be picking up one of those and a Weber Mass too.
Yay!

Congrats on the Classic 20, those are very popular amps.
Now to see what the fuss is all about, you need to crank it up a little. You will find that the louder you play a tube amp, the better they sound. And when they get real loud, they sound AWESOME.
So wait till everybody goes out and crank it up!

Good Deal.
Open a southern facing window when you crank it so I can hear.

Playing an instrument is good for your soul
LOL - not sure the sound from a 15 watter will travel quite that far, but I do intend to crank it when the wife's out.

Just picked up a used 50-watt Weber Mini Mass from the Fender forum. Used gear rawks!

Cool, how about some clips? :D
Oh, as I'm awaiting the arrival of my used 50-watt Weber Mini Mass, can you write a short review on it? How does it change the sound? Is there any difference between using the speaker-out straight into a cab or the line-out into a SS poweramp->cab?
Congrats Mitch! 8)
Enjoy! :D

Hey Arjen - I don't have the Mini Mass yet - I bought it from a classified ad on the Fender forum. You might get yours before I get mine. :)

The Classic 20 is AN AWESOME AMP! All you need a few effects pedals and that Modded 51 and you got a sweet little rig going!
Have fun and remember crank that thing one good time with your 51' for me!! :D
GN's resident learning sponge, show me a little and I will soak it up.
You'll love the sound of those EL-84's running at their saturation point. I do.
