I really have to say this. I have spent most of my 1 and a half playing (been playing since I was 15, but the last year and a half has been way more serious than I ever thought of being) aquiring the right gear. And an amplifier was really never one. So recently after I graduated high school and started college and also working as a Metal Fabricator for a engineering firm. I took my first 9 checks, (EVERY dime by the way) and spent on gear. I sold alot of my begineer gear (Squire 51', Alvarez Acoustic, Squire Tele, Amps, and many pedals) and purchased two used (and frankly abused) ESP Edwards LP knockoffs and made them right. Then I took my fathers old busted Strat (87 I believe?) and modded it. Then I became an effects junky. And spent alot of money on all the pedals (I am an awesome ebayer and yard sale abuser!). Then finally I got fed up with shotty amps and went for the gusto. The JCM800.

I have to say having no issues with gear is what is helping my playing progressing. And also the close eye of my Father and Jazz Teacher at college.

Sorry for the blab, but I seriously think high end gear does make you play better! Now I just need to thin out some of my pedals.

I wouldn't put pedals in front of that amp. Just get an attenuator and crank it.

Tonight I watched a nice video my boss gave me about the group Free. It was all live concerts. Paul Kossoff was playing through Marshall and Orange amps. Just amazing tone. No pedals, all amp.

Well the thing with me is, I can play this amp straight in, in fact on clip 1 the rhythm is just the amp. Nothing else except maybe the EMGs. And it nails that right at your fingertip tones. But I am also a child of the 90s. I love fuzz. I also really love vibe like effects. Not to mention tubescreamers for soloing.

I just cant get all the tones I want within one song, JUST plugging in. Its more or less a control freak thing. Now... if I could ever get a custom made "Neil Young" like "Whizzer" that would be awesome. A control that mounts to the front of the amp and as you step on switches it turns the knobs for you! Pretty awesome stuff.

But yes this amp has TONE out the butthole with just a guitar plugged in. I sware it reacts to each of my guitars in a different way.

You know, before I got the JCM800 I had my eye on a Orange AD30...

Orange definitly leaks tones of their own. I think Heart uses them... I sware I saw them using one on VH1 one day.

anyway. Thanks for the comments guys! And go crank your amps up one good time!

Track one really rocks hard. Beautiful!!!! What or who are you playing along to? Track two seems to need a Noise Suppressor, but still "hot".

It is a small world for metal fanatics. I welcome you fellow musicians, especially the metalheads!

A lot of great musicians use Orange. Here is a few musicians that are sponsored(for lack of a better word) by Orange:
Aerosmith
Arctic Monkeys
Black Sabbath
Fleetwood Mac
Heart (seems you were right)
Helmet
The Hives
Jimmy Page
The Mars Volta
The MC5
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Monster Magnet
Pink Floyd
Queens of the Stone Age
Sly and the Family Stone
Stevie Wonder
U2
Weezer
ZZ Top

I, personally, love my Orange amp, and it's only a $100 15-watt solid-state combo amp, but it's beautiful. I have plugged in to some pretty high end amps at Guitar Center and I would still say that my Orange has GREAT tone, especially for the price!

Definitly I loved the AD30 cause it has the clean THROUGH distortion channels. So you can either have two super clean channels (one slightly boosted or different EQ) or two distorted channels. Its really a perfect amp for anybody. I believe the Rocker series can also do a pretty darn good high gain tone.

Great clips!

After listening I had to run downstairs, grab my holy goblet of rock, and slam out a few epic power chords and a little face-melting solo as an offering to the lords of rock for inspiring me!
