I had a chance to play one of these the other day 15w all tube with a separate volume switch so you can get those blues tones at low volume.
What a great amp it was, but you never see their named mentioned much here, any reason?
I mean for a home tube amp it is great and cheap $680.00 compared to $1,000.00 for a Fender Blues Jnr
(PLease note these are Australian dollars and not a misprint

Hi :D

Laney makes GREAT tube amps.
They've been in biz since the 60's.

For quite a time, they were 'one of the best kept secrets' in tube amps.
Fantastic construction/Great tone - INEXPENSIVE price.

There was a time you could pick up an old one for next to nuthin'.
Now vintage Laney's are becoming quite the hot item.

They were more known for their Heavier sound and so Metal players are most known for using them.
(My cousin was in a death metal band and played thru a Laney 100w Full Stack)

Through the years they tried to offer more of a variety in their product line.
They came out with the AC line in the 90's to try to emulate the sound of vintage Vox's. (Though still keeping their Laney sound identity)

They just came out with the Lionheart series, which seems to be something like vintage 50's/early 60's American style
low watt tube amps.
I'd really like to try one of those.

As for why they aren't mentioned much 'round here....
They aren't really that easy to find in most places.
The guitar stores are flooded with Fenders/Epis/Marshalls/Cubes, and that's mostly what you hear about.

There's nothing wrong with Laney's.
I say; be the first on yer block to have one.

Thanks for the reply Ken but I ended up getting a VoxAD30VT and very happy with it.
The Laney was a couple of hundred bucks dearer and the leader of the opposition lead me to the Vox :)
