Hello all. First post.

I'm a beginner guitarist, I've only been playing for a few weeks. A friend of mine let me borrow one of his amps that he doesn't use. It's a Peavey TransTube 112 EFX.

I've been having a problem with getting headphones to work on it. I like to play late at night, so obviously playing with headphones is the answer. I'm pretty sure everything is plugged in correctly. I went and bought a 1/4 adapter for my headphones, plugged it into the back where it says "Headphone jack", yet no sound through my headphones. I've tried with two different pairs.

I'd imagine everything is in it's correct place. When I take the headphones out, the amp works fine. Any troubleshooting tips you guys can offer me would be most appreciated.

First off - Welcome! then:

Either the "headphone" jack does not work, or your adapeter does not work. Or, your connector is not plugged in right. Read this Wiki page, especially the part about "Tip Ring Sleeve" about half-way down http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_plug
Perhaps that will answer your question

It is a small world for metal fanatics. I welcome you fellow musicians, especially the metalheads!

Your jack could be whacked, one of the connecters bent or some such thing.

Thanks for the replies and the suggestions.

I'm guessing that the jack is messed up. I don't think it's the adapter, as it's brand new. I just bought it yesterday. The headphones are in good shape, and work when I use them for everything else.

And yes, my guitar volume was up. :)

Thanks for the welcome.

Maybe I'll go pick up another one and see what happens.
