Last night was a good example.
Strat straight into a Marshall haze 15watt tube. No external effects just 2 channels. So starting out I'm full up in the mix pretty up front, then gradually things get louder and louder until i'm barely being heard. Ran out of dial.

There's an easy and simple fix to this.

Turn your amp down.

Wait for them to complain "We can't hear you!"

Your reply will be, "Don't play so loud, then."

The sooner they, and you, get into the mindset of keeping the stage (rehearsal) volume DOWN, the better you'll sound when you hit the clubs. Low stage volume means easier to mix, and better sound at front of house.

AHHHHHHHHH! Necro thread! It's ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!!!!!!!!

Playing guitar and never playing for others is like studying medicine and never working in a clinic.
