Hello all --
So I found GN from a simple google search as I was looking for a nice active guitar repair forum. I've been playing guitar and bass for, more or less, 21 years, but never very seriously. Several years ago I started seeing the savings in doing my own guitar setups and repairs, and have been trying to add skills ever since. Very lucky to have a great luthier here in the Chicago area who offers building and repair skills classes where I learned refretting, and improved my understanding of setups. My dad taught me enough on the electronics and woodworking side. So now I like to jump into repair forums to try to discuss and resolve other people's issues as a way to continue learning.
I gigged actively for 5 or 6 years before deciding that I wasn't enjoying it enough to justify time away from my wife and toddler, so now I'm back to goofy computer recording, and fixing/modifying/maintaining friends' guitars.
Looking forward to contributing!
Cheers all!

Where do you get your energies? Well its a vicious circle thing, If I hadn't ever played an instrument then I wouldn't ever need to play one. But now that I've been playing, I need to play. - Eric Clapton 1967 RollingStone interview
