Howdy,
My name is Ed and I've been playing guitar and bass about 30 years and drums almost 40 years. I've gigged on all three but for the past 10 years or so have been having fun jamming with friends and only playing the occasional gig.

I guess you've figured out by now that I'm in my late forties and really love music. In fact my bachelor's degree is in music.

I have two sons. My 21 year old has applied to Berkelee college of music in Boston and is waiting to hear if he got accepted. He's a killer drummer. My 16 year old started playing bass a few years ago and is now playing guitar and keyboards as well. He started composing almost immediately - he really rocks.

As far as guitar and bass go, most of my playing is classic rock and blues on a Telecaster through a tweed Blues Deluxe amp and an ever-changing array of pedals. I would love to be able to play jazz on guitar but I just don't have the feel for it. Part of growing old gracefully is accepting your limitations, right?

Anyway, looking forward to being a part of your forum,
Ed

Thanks. On the other hand, beware of those who talk alot about their background - they may be the most ill-informed of all!

Welcome to GN, Ed! Always good to have another experienced musician whose brains we can pick....

I was nodding my head and smiling - classic rock, yeah! Tele, yeah! - until I came to the part about growing old gracefully - hey, what's wrong with DISgracefully? Works for me.....

:D :D :D

Welcome to GN, Ed.

See you round the forums.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.
It was them that turned me to drink.
