Hi All, I have been exploring this site for a month or so now and decided it would probably be a good place for me. There doesn't seem to be any arrogance by anyone here as I have seen on some other sites. It's nice to find helpful people and not feel intimidated to ask a question. I live in Modesto in California's Central Valley. I played around with a guitar in high school; though not very seriously. I am 55 now and decided to pursue it again, albeit as a rank beginner! Just after this last Xmas, I went to Skip's Music and bought a Fender Squire Acoustic. When I bought it I had heard and read that it helps if you are a beginner to have lighter strings, so I had them put on. I am interested in learning blues and maybe some jazz. I bought a few books and have been teaching myself along with learning to read music. As far as reading music and theory, I have found it to be very interesting. I now have an idea about chords, notes, etc., but have a long way to go yet. I especially find David Hodge's articles to be very helpful and have printed a few out and have reread them a few times. I also bought Tom Serb's book the other day and am looking forward to see if that helps me out. Now, I'm not sure if I should post this on one of the other boards, but I would like to find the music of Craig Chaquico and Russ Freeman of the Rippingtons. I have looked in the music stores, online and tried Google to no avail. I'm glad I found this site and look forward to talking to you guys. Maybe I could even be of help to someone even if I am just starting to find out about this thing called music.
Hey, I'm glad you found all of us too. I hope you enjoy your time here.

You have come to the right place. The people here are fantastic and that is exactly why I started to post here. I came across this site as the result of a google for advice on locking out the trem on my Strat and found a wealth of information and experience on this forum. I now visit nearly every day.
welcome!
