Hello, all. I'm Dan, a 32 year old near Chicago, just trying to learn more about the guitar and playing it well.

Hey, Dan, thanks for the welcome. I'm fairly new to the guitar. I first picked it up several years ago, but gave up on it. About a year ago, I got the drive to learn and have been doing better this time around. Still looking forward to the day when I no longer consider myself a guitar hack!

Welcome Dan,

I'm in Skokie and I'm a guitar newb too; moreso than you are.

How do you know if a drummer is knocking on your door.....

The knocking speeds up.

I was the cook at the Old Style Inn ( across from the court house) back in the late 70's. Orvil Reddenbacker would always come to town every year for the popcorn festival. He would always stop in and have dinner at our place ( Fillet medium rare). He was a pretty nice guy :D

thanks, Misanthrope, Bish. Ken, i actually ended that night at the Old Style Inn. wasnt a bad place. they had a band playing, all 80's covers if i remember correctly, so my group and i chose to sit outside (no offense to any of you Crue and Poison fans).
so what do you guys play/listen to? i listen mostly to rock (zep, metallica, old aerosmith, mastodon, white stripes, clutch, tool...), but blues music is what makes me pick up the guitar every night.

A few years ago I was visiting and they had some guy doing Beatles covers. When I was working there it was the "Rat pack set". The Old Style actually opened in 1932 about one month before Prohibition ended( has been open for 74 years) So technically it started as a speak easy(its a bar and restaurant) :D
