Well everyone....

I've been a member here for a little over two years. In that time my guitar playing has gone to many new levels and I feel better than ever about where I am with my abilities....Of course I still have a long ways to go but......

Anyway the reason for this post is another member had posted that they were looking for an original guitar they had owned a long time ago and was searching for it currently.

I somehow managed to hold on to my first guitar. Of course it sat faithfully in its case for many years but I would guess I had taken it out many times and played it probably at least every other year if not more frequently.

I also was lucky enough that my parents took pictures of us as kids and I happened to hold on to a photo of me with my first guitar.

Since I still have it I thought it would be fun to see who aged worse. Not EVEN a question on that. I lost that deal badly.

So without further ado, here is a picture of me with my Yamaha guitar in October of 1970 and a picture just taken on 12-23-07. One ironic note...the first picture was in '70 and this current one is in '07. If my life and luck holds out, I should be able to hold on to this guitar for another 3 years and manage to keep it for 40 years.

I hope you all get a kick out of this as much as I did.

1970....

and today....2007....

And still playing the same chord after all these years!

That's really cool that you've hung onto that guitar for so long Bish. Still looking good.. the guitar that is! J/K bud!

Looks like you're still undecided about the thumb position, though...

Very cool photos, Bish!

Peace

Cool comparison of your pictures.

That is awesome, Bish! Very cool to see the comparison of then and now.

I love the watch band of the 1970 shot. I had forgotten about that style.

Cool as heck that you still got the first guitar. How's it play?

:D :D :D

Thanks everyone for looking!!!

Pearl, under no circumstances, ever have your eyes checked. They are perfect.

Dan, sorry to say but that's the only chord I know.

David, where does the thumb actually go?

Nuno, I noticed that too. In some spots the body has the same scenerio happening.

ksac32 ... LMAO ... I'm not giving any autographs and the diner did have cockroaches.

Rico...I like your Gibson. Wanna trade for a week?

corbind....thanks, man. Even my family are rolling on the floor.

progressions...I can't find any other recorded time that depicts the year separation as well as this did.

Roy....good catch on the watch band...yeah, I was a stylin' dude back then. I had the guitar setup and all electronics fixed about 4 years ago when I decided to get back into playing guitar. (band wise it has been almost 30 years due to drumming duties.) Obviously it doesn't play as well and my new stuff but it still works and I could gig with it if need be. Put it through any modeller and you wouldn't know it was an old fogey. Give it to a good guitarist and I bet it'll sing. It stays in tune remarkably well, too.

TR...I'm sure you are not alone. I just never had any reason to get rid of it and always knew I'd come back to guitar someday.

Again, thanks, everyone. Have a safe and and happy holiday season.

It'd be more fun if we got together and played 'em both for a week.
