I am back from Las Vegas. I saw the Beatles. truth.
a cool act. they captured that sound. they looked like them. it was very entertaining.
I was skeptical going in, but was turned.

also saw a show called Le Reve. an off shoot of Cirque De Solieli. basically a circus act, but way over the top in scenic performance.
it took place in a round theatre created for the show. an amphitheater with a pool with maybe fifteen rows or more. the ceiling was dark and domed. with a darker ocular hole at the top
acrobatics, ballroom dance, syncronized swim, comedy, pathos, ethos, lights, smoke, and tablespoon of Bigsby Berekly
thrown in. really great music. inspiring.
actors were literally falling from the ceiling and rafters. there were feats of balance and strength, and gymnastics.
the show was dark, but not gothic. harlequin and devil imp characters led the 'dream' performed. very cool.

we hoped to have seen Bette Midler, but she did not start her run until later this month. Cher plays when Bette doesn't.
no one in our party wanted to see Cher.

there were bands playing in small places. any of them were far better (no matter what style of their band's music choice) than any I have seen around where I live. these were not big acts. just 'bands playing gigs' in casino small stages. they played tight and sounded great.

the equipment:
just about every guitar seen in a guitar catalog was used. the amps were small singles to 4x12s. keyboards and digital tracks too. one band got too synthy for my tastes. they maybe were doing an Oasis-Yanni thing. did not hear much heavy shred stuff. more classic rock genres. 60's, 70's. 80's.
the bands were busy. they make money there.

I am totally thumped out by the amount of club dance music I heard. the boom chit boom chit boom chit boom chit
was everywhere; poolside, patio, and street. the smaller light poles had little speakers way up there above head level.
in the dark clubs with intricate sound systems the bass and drum boomchit boomchit and the hypnotizing electronic melody repeating ,pulsing and blending with the low freq thumping became narcotic after a while.
I would get dizzy. I could play steel guitar parts in my head.

I saw the panorama of the sights before my eyes. the different shapes and language of the thousands of people that were every where at the same time created a density throughout the casino and Strip. everywhere. it wove in intricate streams and rivers. like carpet fibers in Persian rugs.
the moving lights, the enormous water features, and sizes, shapes, and colors of the buildings, sprinkled with palm trees of all types were the back drop. it all appeared two dimensional at times.
I felt comfortably surreal. I played guitar parts in my head.
Vegas. go there.
pictures I took will come after I process back to earth.

Wow. Way cool report. Sounds like you stepped inside a Salvador Dalí painting instead of visiting Vegas. Welcome back. Please return your seatback to its fullest upright position and breathe slowly as you decompress.

Sounds like a great time, Dogbite. I'll have to remember that Beatles act if I end up going there.

All my life I wanted to be somebody. Now I see I should have been more specific.

I could give my observations on high heels and cocktail dresses, the card flippers on the street, and the decadent architecture, the bongo player at the night club playing to club dance music.
I could show a few pictures of old Vegas (the Fremont Experience) or the interior carpet and ceilings of the Venetian.

So, DB, what are your observations on high heels and cocktail dresses? Hard to walk in? Drafty?
