Bob who? :?

DAN! Puh-leeze! There's only one Bob*.....

The artist also known as Robert Allen Zimmerman, Elston Gunn, Blind Boy Grunt, Lucky Wilbury, Boo Wilbury, Elmer Johnson, Sergei Petrov, Jack Frost, Jack Fate, Willow Scarlet, and Robert Milkwood Thomas.

Dunno how his latest album fared elsewhere, but over here it made the #1 slot for a couple of weeks - came in as a new entry in that position, too. At least some section of the British public still has some taste!**

*Actually there is another Bob/*, who I personally will always be grateful to for running the SSG for about 5 years. That's Bob Mothers. He doesn't seem to visit much anymore, but if by chance you read this, BM, thanks for getting me started. Anything good I wrote while Bob was in charge was probably down to his selection of subject and kind comments - anything bad was probably my fault.

**No, I haven't bought it yet - there's nowhere to buy CD's in Newton-le-Willows now that Woolworth's has closed. Rest assured, it's the absolute top priority next time I go into St Helens or Warrington!

And of course there was the legendary Bob Paisley, former manager of Liverpool F C. One of my all time favourite quotes came from BP - he was talking to a young striker named Ian Rush, who couldn't get into the first team. BP told Rushie he wasn't selfish enough in front of goal - "and," added Bob, "if you're in the penalty area and don't know what to do with the ball, stick it in the net - we can discuss the options later!" Rush went on to be Liverpool's all time record goalscorer, with 346 goals in 660 games.

* And my maternal grandfather was called Bob - my dad called him "Minty" because his name, spelt backwards, read "Trebor!"

Oh yeah - have a great birthday, Bob D, and many more of them!

:D :D :D

last year I learned a Dylan song to play at the annual open mike Dylan show. I didn't make that show because I had to leave town. I don't remember the reason.
I made a promise to go next year (this last Sunday).
well, I forgot all about it. maybe because I was away camping and helping on a friends farm.
in fact, I didn't touch a guitar for ten days straight. that was wierd.

I met up with a friend this morning. he always goes and performs. he said only twenty people were there. anyone could have performed. the owner of the bar is worried that Dylan fans are on the wane.
I feel bad.

happy b day Bob.

Hmmm . . .
I guess it's not proper forum etiquette . . . to kick someone in the shin . . .

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
