Last week on a lark I did something I've never tried before: I entered National Public Radio's puzzle of the week contest - and got the answer right. Ok, big deal... so did 900+ other people. But then they draw one name out of the pool of correct answers, and that name was mine.

This morning I spent some time solving puzzles posed by Will Shortz, who's the editor of the New York Times crossword puzzle. The segment will air Sunday morning on the Weekend Edition program.

It was a blast - and not entirely unrelated to music, as I got to talk about the music school. Hopefully that part makes it in... about 15 minutes got recorded, and the segment will run for 6 minutes or so.

Very cool. I missed the first part, but I hope they did air something about the music school. At least you got to plug Mensa. And you didn't embarrass yourself.

Nah, they cut everything about the music school. They left a hint of it in, when I answered "English horn" and Will said "I thought you'd get that one".

Maybe next time :)
