has anyone heard anything about this movie called broken bridges thats supposed to come out in sept? it sounds pretty interesting- its got burt reynolds, and lindsey haun (who played in 7th heaven), and toby keith in it. its about some burnt-out country singer who returns to his hometown after his success plummets, and meets his 16yr old daughter for the first time! im not sure how the movies gonna do, but the tracklist for the soundtrack sounds awesome. a coworker @ umgd said its got songs by keith and willie nelson but also has a great collection of artists. also, one of the lead characters, lindsey haun, has a sweet music video that u can check out at
http://media.netwurk.com/showdog/lindseyhaun/LindseyHaun_Broken_0056-0300_320x240.asx to get a better feel for what the movies like. if ur a fan of country, u should love this- has anyone else heard much about this?!

I saw the previews for this movie this weekend. It looks really good. Toby can act, I think he'll do great.

I don't really think there is any country music anymore, just pop done by someone wearing a cowboy hat

Immature? Of course I'm immature Einstein, I'm 50 and in a Rock and ROll band.

yea, that about sums up "new country".
i was raised on Charlie Pride, Willie, Waylon, and the boys , so i'm a bit jaded. my folks liked both kinds of music (country and western :P )
I went to high school during the big "country rock" days as well so i guess i have always liked music that flirts along the edges of the genre.
an album to check out on the C&W traditional front (especially for those who don't appreciate the genre) is the relatively new one by Van the man Morrison "Pay the Devil" the deluxe version comes with a dvd.

You should check out Hank Williams the 3rd. He sounds like his granddad on steroids, then his 2nd set is kind of like hellbilly heavy metal.

Willie Nelson :D What a rebel! All those popular country songs from Nashville in the 50's and 60's that he wrote! If you are listening to Patsy Cline sing "Crazy" amongst a group of random Country Music fans, how many out of 10 do y'all think would know Willie wrote that?

It is a small world for metal fanatics. I welcome you fellow musicians, especially the metalheads!

I love the pictures of him from around the time he wrote crazy. Sharkskin suit, razor cut flattop hairdo, he looked like he was going to a board meeting
